An update on my recent consumption habits

LIZA PI’ve found time for two things over the last couple of weeks - playing Live Draw HK and buying shit.

Poker has been going fine - more of the same, really. Running ok, playing ok, still working out the same old kinks. The primary focus these days is on maintaining an active, conscious involvement in the hand. It’s a bit frightening to me how many of my decisions are made without a rational, present thought behind them.

I would not be the least bit surprised if I had already written that Angka Keluaran HK sentence word for word in an earlier post.

Buying shit, on the other hand, has been going quite well, although I do have a parallel shopping leak to the above poker one; I purchase without due consideration. New phone - I finally broke down and bought a geek phone. Now I can belatedly answer emails on a whole new machine! If you’re wondering, the new Treo 700 is a pretty sweet phone at first blush - I thought it would be bulkier than it is, but the size and sound quality were both pleasant surprises. Read more than you could ever want to know about Treos at this blog - I’d just be duplicating things people over there have already said.

And books! A ‘thought correction’ workbook that my talky-doctor suggested [read: self-help test bank], the new collection from Dave Eggers, Phil Gordon’s Little Green Book and an intriguing title from O’Reilly: Mind Hacks - Tips and Tricks for Using the Brain. If you’re familiar with the O’Reilly imprint, you’ll understand why the book seemed like a potential winner to me.

I, of course, went straight for the poker book first, and I have to say that I’m happy I did. Gordon’s book is a must read for anyone who wants to be good a No Limit cash games. Don’t let the size fool you [the title is quite literal - the book is both small is size and green in color] - the text is massive. Read more about Phil and his book here.

That’s that. Hey, I had this post categorized as Self-Absorbed Miscellany before I even starting typing the body.
