Eating bad and playing Live Draw HK
I think a piece of food tried to murder me last night.
I’m still not entirely clear on the motive - it may have well been a senseless rampage / revenge against the world it didn’t ask to be born into type of thing - but I am nearing 100% certainty that the piece of chocolate cake that was served to me at the Chicago Steakhouse at the Gold Strike wanted to end my life, and it damn well near did.
Christ, that was a big fucking piece of cake.
Poker: I can’t win at NL cash games down here. I think I’ve booked one winning session out of about 10. On the other hand, I’m cleaning up at the 20-40 limit game and booked a couple wins my first times sitting at a live PLO table.
I’m such a donkey in that game it’s unreal.
I’m not sure what my problem with the NL cash games is; I was talking about it with Other Aaron last night, and the best answer I can come up with is that it’s a lot of little things all Toto HK contributing to a greater frustration that’s helping me to overplay hands at the wrong times. I’m not massively stuck or anything; I’ve probably dropped a little over 2k playing 2/5 over the last week. The biggest hand I lost was a $700 misplay last night … mostly it’s been little $70 bites here and there and no big pots coming my way to offset the minor but frequent losses.
I may not be adjusting well to the game down here; it doesn’t play nearly as deep as the game at home. I think I’m playing too many hands preflop even though the potential to get paid isn’t nearly as great as it would be in a deeper game. I also have a feeling that I’m overplaying flops and getting stuck to defending weak hands on the turn. The biggest issue, however, is the ease with which I’m getting frustrated at the table. I’m living in some sort of bizzaro reverso world where I’m having no problem being patient at a limit table, but I can’t keep my shit together at a no limit table.
If you had told me a year ago that I’d be having this problem, I don’t think I would have believed you. I also would have questioned why you went through the trouble of travelling backward through time just to tell me something so trivial.
We’re thinking about leaving early. I’m already a little pissed at myself for not leaving more time in between Tunica and Vegas and I’d welcome the extra day or two a premature departure would allow. I’m personally thinking about just focusing on tournaments for the next few days; whatever I do, it seems like I need to leave the NL ring games alone for a couple of sessions.
Postcard to Tunica
I think you’re a stupid place and I hate you for tricking me with you promotional materials and cheap room rates.
I think your food is of low quality, although I will admit that your Room Service delivery time is not entirely sub-par.
I have no idea why I can’t beat your no limit cash games, but I can’t, so I quit. You can go to hell, Tunica, right to hell and never come back.
Also, your tap water tastes leaden.
Chris
In all honesty, I don’t know why I booked so long down there. I’ve gone about 5 times now and I don’t think I’ve enjoyed it once. I’ve actually been home for about 6 days; I cut out of Tunica a full week early because I spending way more time in my room watching TV and eating over-priced open faced roast beef sandwiches than playing Live Draw HK - and if I’m just going to be eating open faced roast beef sandwiches and watching TV, I could be doing that at home.
At least I assume I could; I’m sure the Bristol has an OFRBS.
Winter Passing is a terrible, self-indulgent piece of crap. I stopped after 30 minutes, electing instead to play drums to the crappy preprogrammed songs offered by the Roland unit I possess. And I was a bit drunk. So that says something.
