Last year I played a little higher online when the games looked real good. I only did it a few times, and did good, but I was being too risk aversive, and dropped back down to my comfort level. Other people have the problem of taking too much risk, I feel that I might not take enough. Well, so I got back from my cruise and seen a friend at the Bellagio. He mainly plays 2/5 no limit live. He played some 15/30 at the Bellagio with me but didnt like the swings and he was having trouble beating party 3/6 (multitabling) for any significant value, so he didnt play online much. Well in December he signed up for one of the smaller online sites and played 2/4 no limit and after a run went up to 5/10 NL. He ended up making $22,000 for the month. He told me this and I instantly became jealous. - I think that was the inspiration I needed to start taking more chances. So Ive been jumping into higher games on stars every once in awhile. In my short frame of reference, Ive done well as could be expected, but not from my big hands. Ive had AA twice and lost them both, once against a flopped set, and another versus a jala slot 3 of a kind (of course it was middle pair). Ive had KK 4 times and only won with them once, when the blinds folded!! One time I had to fold them, another time I was against AA, and the other I flopped a set but the four flush ruined me on the river. Thats one of the problems with playing different limits. You can do good playing the smaller games and have it all erased in two bad sessions at the higher level. This week I took another pounding live at 20/40, and am currently almost even from playing online. Its about time to start making some money again, so off I go to do that. Edit: 1/5 with Kings.
